Hello, My name is Mrs. Carol Messersmith, I will be your 6th grade Math teacher this school year. I live in Lake Havasu City, Arizona with my husband of 29 years. I have lived and worked in the Arizona Public School Districts for 4 years. Before moving to Arizona, I lived in Southern California and taught in the private school sector. My husband and I have two adult daughters and 5 grandchildren, all who have recently moved to Arizona themselves.
I have been in the teaching field for over 19 years. I started in the classroom as a paraprofessional working with exceptional students. I have taught 5th grade for five years, 4th grade for 3 years, 7th grade for one year, 6th grade for one year, and Master Teacher for Middle School for one year. I have an Associates in Arts with an Early Childhood Certificate, Bachelors in Science with a History Degree, and a Masters Degree in Exceptional Students.
I pride myself as a life long learner. I find myself registering for all different types of training and online courses with the mindset of staying abreast of new teaching strategies and content area. My teaching philosophy is centered around the student becoming a 'well-rounded' adolescent. This can only happen when the teacher develops lessons/activities that are based upon the student's interest/likes.
I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting school year.
